It's OK. I know I am a big softy. I'm the mom that gets teary eyed watching my son enjoy a moment playing in the sunshine.
I'm going to be the mom that cries at every play, every recital and at every little (BIG) moment in my children's lives that I consider a milestone.
I'm already looking ahead 6 months to the first primary program that Adam will participate in. Even when I think about him up there on the stand with all the other children, singing with that beautiful smile on his face...I get teary. I'm pretty sure that on the big day, I will be crying as quietly as possible into a tissue and hoping everyone at church won't be staring at me.
So of course when we went to pick up Adam's big boy bed last night all I could think about was how quickly the last 3 years have gone by.
Didn't we just bring him home from the hospital?
I swear we, (meaning Clayton) just put his crib together and were so excited about having a little one sleeping in it.
I guess I didn't think we would get here so fast.
putting the crib together 7/07
the first little peeps that got to sleep in it.

Adam's nursery...we put so many hours into this project to get it done in time! I remember painting each piece of bead board with 4 coats of red paint to get the color just right.
After years of sitting empty, the room finally had a little occupant, sleeping soundly in his crib.
He looked so tiny in it!
Every morning I was greeted by this adorable smile.
Before we knew it he was 2! we converted the crib to a day bed and bought him big boy bedding. He was so excited.

Last night we picked up his brand new bed and mattress. Adam was SO excited! he paced back and forth while his daddy was putting it together. When Clayton was done, Adam patted him on the leg and said "I'm so proud of you!"
We put the mattress and sheets on and told him it was all ready for him. His face was glowing as he said "Oh my gosh!! My room looks fabulous!"

Adam slept in his new bed last night and we didn't hear a peep from him till 7:30 this morning :)

We still have a lot of rearranging to do in his room. He needs a new dresser and nightstand now so that will get put on the list. I ordered a new comforter that should arrive in a week.

I guess the saying "enjoy every moment, before it passes you by" is true. especially in hindsight.
.
So what's the next milestone? I don't even want to know, I'm just going to live this moment for a while.

Meanwhile we are setting up the room next to Adam's and getting it ready for the next little occupant. We don't know when that will be but we're sure it's soon. We now have piece of mind that if it happens quickly and we don't have much notice, that there will be a crib made up and ready :)

Awwwwwwwwwwwww. I know just what you mean. I cry at EVERY SINGLE thing. Spring concert during their kazoo song? Tears pouring out of my eyes. All the other parents are laughing at the fact that they are playing a song with kazoos and also COVERING their ears because it was so atrocious sounding but I was crying... the time just flies so quickly. Your baby is so sweet. And don't worry, not matter how old he gets, he will always be your baby! : )
Yes...you did just bring him home from the hospital! Seriously, those 3 years flew by. I LOVE those pictures of him as a baby. Sweet little thing. I can't believe he told Clayton he was proud of him! How adorable is that? I want to see pictures of your new nursery. Praying for you for another miracle...soon! :) Love ya!
He is so beautiful...like even his spirit is beautiful! That baby is happy! I can tell!
Interested in adopting a 34 year old school teacher with a dog and alot of shoes? I even cook:)
God bless your family. Let tell me you, as I said before I rarely call babies cute. I love kids, don't get me wrong but I guess when you have 13 nieces and nephews like me...ya tend to get desensitized!
But this little son of yours is just gorgeous! I've only said that recently when I saw a pic of Sandra Bullock's son...that baby is gorgeous!
I wish you blessings in your quest to adopt. Seriously. God bless you guys:)
