I am a major slackity slacker.
.
I know I haven't posted anything for almost a month but finding the time for it is getting harder and harder.
.
Coopers reflux is still a daily struggle. He was also sick for pretty much the entire month of December with ear infections and a sinus infection. The rest of us have been taking turns passing some virus back and forth to each other.
.
Despite all of that we had a wonderful Christmas!
.
Adam was delighted to see that Santa came (despite threats on his behavior every single day that Santa doesn't come to houses of naughty little boys) He got everything he asked for except for Hide & Seek JoJo which I'm pretty sure he never mentioned to Santa.
.
Cooper got some new fun toys and lots of books to explore.
.
Clayton got an indoor cycling machine and some new shoes (for his family: I even sang the "new shoes" song to him as he opened them)
.
I was surprised by my wonderful hubby with a Kitchen Aid!! Not only does it look totally sleek and fantastic on my kitchen counter, it also makes my job of cooking up delish meals every day super easy!
.
So...on to my new obsession.
.
I never ever though that I would do something like this .. But I caved.
.
As of the last week I have officially become a digital scrap booker.
.
I feel like a hypocrite.
.
I've always said that I would never do it and that I would stick to making a huge mess on my living room floor. It would be covered in scrapbook paper, embellishments, tape and stickers for days.
.
But over the last year I've come to a realization.
.
1.) I just can't afford to do it anymore! I cannot believe how expensive it has gotten to scrapbook! I remember years ago when I could go to the craft store and buy paper for .25 cents a piece! When the "expensive paper" was the .50 cent paper! Getting pictures developed only adds to the cost and if I choose to print them at home it just eats up my printer ink. I was spending an average of $50 bucks on new supplies every time I would prepare to sit down and scrapbook.
.
2.) However my biggest motivation was that Cooper is almost 5 months old and I hadn't scrap booked a single page about him! (due in part to reason #1)
.
So I caved.
.
I decided to get on the web and see if I could find one or two free digital scrap booking kits to download and see if I liked it. I was shocked to find several websites that offer loads of freebies and before I knew it I had downloaded over 20 complete scrapbook kits! I also found lots of cute paper and embellishments to download for free too!
.
I've been working on my new hobby for the last several nights and I have to admit that I like it much more than I thought I would! I don't feel like I've had to compromise or give up anything in order to get my pages to look the way I want them too. In fact I think it allows me to be even more creative. Here are the pages I have come up with:
.

What do you think? I'm just happy to finally have 5 pages to put in Cooper's scrapbook!!
If you are interested in trying digital scrap booking here are the two websites that I found most helpful with offering free digital downloads.

What program do you use to scrapbook with? I've been wanting to learn how to do it in photoshop elements because that's what I have, but I just haven't done it yet! Poor Liam has NO scrapbook pages and he's 3! I think my blog for the past three years will have to do for now. It's on my list of things to do for sure. Maybe I should take a class? Then I'd HAVE to learn. ;)
Darling pages!!!! I am glad you caved. Isn't it so much better? Okay, I can't say better, but less time consuming. You can save it and shut down your computer, come back and Whala, it's there again. Love it. I love the Shabby Princess website. Can't wait to see your other pages.
Jen-I use Photoshop CS4 and it's great. If you need some help I'd love to walk you through it and then you won't need to pay for a class :) We can have a "scrapbook night" on our computers (mines a laptop so it's portable)
Angie--if you'd be willing to tutor me that would be AWESOME! I have a laptop too. Let me know when you have a free night and we'll do it!
