Spotlight: John and Cassy

Hi. We are John and Cassy and this is our story.
.
We met as kids when Cassy was only five years old. It was love at first sight, well sort of. We became playmates and we were the best of friends for years. Cassy really started to have a crush on John when she turned twelve. It took John a little longer to realize that he liked Cassy more than just a friend. We started dating in high school when Cassy turned sixteen. After a couple years of dating in high school, John left for college and Cassy stayed behind to finish high school. John spent a semester at Brigham Young University and then served a two year mission for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints in California. He wrote Cassy every week and she waited for him to get back off his mission. Cassy, in the mean time, graduated from high school and started her college education at Snow College. After two years John came back from his mission. We didn't plan on getting married very soon after he returned, but the time was right. John asked Cassy to marry him and then five months later, on August 8, 2008 we were married in the Manti Utah Temple. We have had a very happy marriage and we love being with each other everyday. .
.
We share many interests
and enjoy many activities together. We are both avid readers and usually each have at least one book out, if not two or three. Our interests lie mostly in science fiction and fantasy, but we occasionally delve into other genres. We also enjoy playing board and card games. We are limited in our selection since there are only two of us, but we take every opportunity to play games with family and friends when visiting. We have spent several dates, both pre-marriage and post-marriage, playing miniature golf. We also enjoy the outdoors and being around nature. We have a miniature garden growing on our balcony and only refrain from getting a pet on threat of eviction (that will change in the future). We have visited several national parks in the western US and plan on visiting even more. .
.
Cassy ha
s a degree in Elementary Education and works as an aide at one of the local schools. She loves working with kids and seeing them learn new things. If the students were the only part of teaching, it would be the perfect job. As it is, it's still a pretty good deal. John is currently studying to become a high school drama teacher. He has one year left in his program and plans on getting a job as soon after that as is possible. He has been involved in several play productions in both high school and college. While acting is enjoyable, its more fun to get to run things backstage. He is currently working on a senior directing project. We support each other in our different endeavors and try to help each other however we can. .

We always talked about adopting children at some point in our marriage. When we encountered proble
ms getting pregnant, we realized adoption was going to become a reality for us sooner than we had previously thought. We recognize that our Heavenly Father has a plan for our family, we just don't know how our children will come to us yet. We have no preference regarding ethnicity or gender. We are also willing to accept either a closed or open adoption. We anxiously await the opportunity to grow our family through adoption. .
