Easter 2010

We enjoyed a fun-filled Easter weekend!
.
We colored Easter eggs and made many yummy treats.
.

.

.

We made "monster" themed Easter eggs and they turned out so cool, Adam loved them. When bedtime rolled around he chose to put his monster jammies on so he would match the eggs :)
.

The Easter bunny stopped by and left us many delicious goodies and fun new toys. Adam got a new tricycle and many new safari animals. He was very excited that the Easter bunny hid eggs around the house for him to find
.

He got an adorable new Easter basket too!
.

Both grandmas also had Easter egg hunts for the grandkids and Adam was more than willing to participate, even though it had snowed and was freezing outside!
.

One of my favorite parts of this weekend was not only that we got to Celebrate Easter and the Resurrection of our Savior Jesus Christ, but that it also fell on
General Conference. This meant that we go to hear many great talks and be spiritually strengthened and uplifted!
.

I tried to take notes during this conference so that I might be able to remember which talks inspired and touched me.
.

My favorite talk was given by James B. Martino entitled "All things work together for good."
.

and here are a few things I managed to jot down while he was talking:
(I'm not guaranteeing that these are exact quotes as I was writing as fast as I could, but they are as close as I could get them!)

.
He says:

"Each of use will face adversity, difficulty and trials in our lives. Our trials come in many forms and each will allow us to become more like the Savior. The challenge is to gain an eternal perspective when we are going through the test."
.

"We may never know in this life why we face what we do, but we can feel confident that we will grow from the experience."
.

Then he listed 5 things we can learn from the Saviors last hours in mortal life, to help us when we face our own trials.
.

1. "The Savior sought to do not His will but the will of His Father . We can follow his example by trusting in God."
.

2. "When we are faced with trials we must learn not to complain or murmur. Instead of asking 'Why me' or 'What did I do to deserve this' we should be asking, 'What can I do to learn from this experience' or 'What am I to change?"
.

3. "When we face challenges, we must seek greater help from God."
.

"He may not remove the trial from us, but He helps to strengthen us as we pass through the experience."
.

"We must not be bitter or uncommitted. Let us follow our Saviors example."
.

4. "Learn to serve and think of others even in times of trial. When we serve others we forget our own troubles. Unless we lose ourselves in the purpose of others, there is little purpose in our own lives."
.

5. "We must forgive others, and do not pass blame to others as we endure our trials."
.

"Keep an eternal perspective."
.

"He suffered that we might have joy even in our times of trial."

.
I loved this talk!
.
(It was exactly what I need to hear, and I know there is something in it for all of us!)

There was one other talk that I really liked, given by Neil. L Anderson and I will have a post about it later where I will share a few of his words that I managed to write down :)
.

We hope you had a wonderful Easter too.
