For Eternity

We had a very special weekend.

We took Cooper to the temple on Saturday to have him sealed to our family.

I couldn't help but get emotional when I saw both our beautiful boys dressed in white!

.

The icing on the cake was when we stepped out to the waiting room of the temple to see Cooper's birth mom L standing before for us!

We knew she was planning on coming and we couldn't wait! We hadn't seen her since his placement 6 months ago.

We spent a wonderful afternoon with her and then had the opportunity to see her again the next day when she joined us at church for Cooper's blessing.

.

I've had a lot of time in the past week to reflect on the Lords plan for each of us.

I feel, as most adoptive parents do, that the children we adopt where meant to come to us. There is no doubt in my mind that Adam and Cooper are where they are supposed to be.

All those painful years of struggling with infertility were really just part of Heavenly Father's plan for us. He gently guided us down the path we were supposed to take.

But an integral part of the Lord's plan for us included a woman who would have to make the ultimate sacrifice.

I doubt that Cooper's birth mom had any idea just a few years ago, that she would ever be in the position where she would have to make the most difficult decision of her life.

I had a chance to talk to L about my feelings and she shared that her faith in the Lord had a significant place in her decision making.
I'm grateful to her for being brave and strong and loving Cooper so much that she recognized Heavenly Father's plan for both of them.

Oh and can I just say that I LOVE open adoption!!

I love that we have a great relationship with both our boys birth moms. I can't imagine it any other way!

Congratulations!! I bet that was such a wonderful day. I was at the temple the other day and saw a family there with children to be sealed and I started crying and I didn't even know them! I bet you were an emotional mess that day. I love your blog, you are such an inspiration!
